Margarida Santos Saraiva obtained her Ph.D. in Pathology from Cambridge University, United Kingdom and was awarded for it. She is an Associate Researcher at FCT, leads the Immune Regulation group at IBMC, with the aim of investigating the mechanisms underlying the regulation of host-pathogen interactions, and was president of the Portuguese Society of Immunology between 2018 and 2021.
