Miguel Prudêncio is a parasitologist, specialist in vaccines, principal investigator at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular and professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. He completed his PhD at the University of East Anglia in 2000, followed by a postdoctoral period at Leiden University. In 2005, he did a post-doctorate in the area of malaria at iMM Lisboa. In 2008 he became a Staff Scientist at the Malaria Unit at IMM and in July 2013 he became an independent Group Leader at iMM Lisboa, ahead of Laboratório Prudencio. His research focuses on the liver stages of Plasmodium and its potential as an anti-malarial intervention. Miguel is the author of more than 90 scientific articles, has won several scientific and innovation awards and is the inventor of several patents.
